The Halecroft Survey

Tithe Apportionment Map, Parish of Halecroft, Worcestershire · Surveyed 1840 · Deposited at the Tithe Commission, Westminster · Reproduced by permission — click each field to read its history — toggle to see what stands there now

The Tithe Apportionment of 1840 required every parish in England and Wales to produce a map of its lands, identifying each field and its owner, occupier, acreage, land use, and annual tithe value. The Halecroft survey was conducted in August of that year, when the estate was managed by Augusta Hale following her husband's effective departure from the property. Augusta's name appears as both owner and occupier of all Hale lands — a legal designation that accurately reflects the practical situation. The map survives in the Worcester Record Office. This is a schematic reconstruction.
